philippines!
alright well i just got in and not even really settled. i never knew that the philippines were so.....poor. it caught me off guard having the plane land in manila with slums almost reaching over the retaining walls.
the airport is also very small and confusing. there are a million different buildings. you get off of the plane from the arrivals and then have to figure out where to go. you have to catch a shuttle to the domestic flights area, which you have to drive through a slum. get there...have to go to a room to print your ticket...walk through a metal detector. get into the place where you check your baggage and have to go through another metal detector. get through that and go through TWO more metal detectors.
also there are detectors for men, and for women.
get out of cebu airport and am immediately thrown into a cab. people are right, it's more expensive than i thought. driving here in a corolla (made me miss my baby) i asked the driver if people really lived in these areas. just mud and thatch huts, children running around nude and filthy some without shoes. he just said yes, that people lived there and tried to run their small shops. needless to say i don't think that i'll be leaving the resort too much.
pulled up and recieved a complimentary drink after i handed over my 2000 Peso deposit for not having a credit card and was guided to my room. the girl at the desk asked me if i was alone so she gave me an upgrade.
these beds are so soft! my bathroom is bigger than my apartment in korea! the room with the toilet and sink is very large, then you walk through glass doors outside to a room that is covered only with thatch. there are soft stones all over the ground and a HUGE jacuzzi bathtub. the shower is also outside. i like it.
took a walk over to the beach and it is......bad. haha. really bad actually. but there are island hopping excursions that i plan on going on to see real beaches. i think that it'll be a very relaxing weekend.
breakfast is free. the room service food seems pretty cheap and there is a bar 20 feet from my front door. it's mostly families and couples here and i think that most places close around 11 but she told me that room service is 24 hours.
hopefully tomorrow will be sunny and i can go snorkeling or something.
alright, well you know that i made it safely so there....i'll try and keep everyone posted and i'll attempt to take pictures, even though i hate it.
